Shocking new revelations have surfaced in the murder investigation of 26-year-old Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police alleging that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, took nearly ₹1 crore from him under the pretext of wedding shopping before allegedly transferring the entire amount to her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, as part of a larger conspiracy.
Pune: Shocking new revelations have surfaced in the murder investigation of 26-year-old Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police alleging that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, took nearly ₹1 crore from him under the pretext of wedding shopping before allegedly transferring the entire amount to her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, as part of a larger conspiracy.
According to investigators, Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, 22, meticulously planned Agarwal's murder and even discussed their future together after the crime. The duo has been arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill Ketan Agarwal by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.
Siya Goyal Allegedly Took ₹1 Crore in the Name of Wedding Preparations
Police said Ketan Agarwal had given his fiancée approximately ₹1 crore for wedding-related expenses and shopping. However, instead of using the money for wedding preparations, Siya Goyal allegedly handed over the entire amount to Chetan Chaudhary.
Investigators claim the money was intended to help Chaudhary establish his business and become financially stable. Since he reportedly came from a financially weak background, he allegedly told Goyal that he would need around three years to secure his career before they could start a life together.
Couple Planned to Marry Three Years After the Murder
According to the investigation, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly agreed that she would remain unmarried for three years following Ketan Agarwal's death to avoid raising suspicion.
Police believe the plan was designed to allow public attention to fade while Chaudhary became financially independent. The two allegedly intended to marry later and gain acceptance from Goyal's family once the murder investigation had cooled down.
Police Reveal Signal-Based Murder Plot
Investigators have also uncovered details of the alleged murder plan, which involved a pre-decided signal.
Police said Siya Goyal was instructed to sit down—either to drink water or pretend to tie her shoelaces—as a signal for Chaudhary to push Ketan Agarwal off the cliff.
Officials believe the signal was carefully chosen to ensure Goyal remained out of Agarwal's reach during the fatal attack. Investigators said the accused feared that if Agarwal tried to grab her while falling, she could also be pulled into the gorge.
Scooter Used to Avoid Detection
According to police, Chetan Chaudhary travelled nearly 90 kilometres from Pune to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of a car to avoid detection at toll plazas.
Officials confirmed that the scooter used during the crime has been seized as part of the investigation.
Secret Phone Call Before the Murder
Investigators have also identified a phone call between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary approximately 34 minutes before the murder. Call Detail Records (CDR) reportedly indicate that the conversation may have served as the final confirmation before executing the alleged murder plot.
Police sources further revealed that the conspiracy had been finalised by the end of May.
First Murder Attempt Failed
According to the investigation, Siya Goyal allegedly made an initial attempt to push Ketan Agarwal off a cliff on June 14.
However, Agarwal reportedly survived after grabbing onto nearby bushes. Investigators claim Goyal later fabricated a story, saying she had accidentally pushed him after being startled by a snake.
Following the failed attempt, police allege that Chetan Chaudhary decided to accompany the couple to Lohagad Fort on June 18 to ensure the murder plan was successfully carried out.
The investigation into the high-profile Pune murder case is ongoing, with police continuing to examine financial transactions, digital evidence, and communication records to establish the complete sequence of events.
