Australian NRI Sunil Sharma Murder Case: Brother, Nephew Among Three Arrested in Alleged ₹6 Crore Property Conspiracy

Amritsar, Punjab: In a shocking development, the Amritsar Rural Police have solved the disappearance and alleged murder case of Australian Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Sunil Sharma, uncovering what investigators describe as a carefully planned conspiracy driven by a multi-crore property dispute.

According to police officials, the victim was allegedly murdered as part of a scheme orchestrated by his own brother to gain control of properties valued at approximately ₹5–6 crore.

Missing Person Investigation Leads to Murder Revelation

The case came to light after a missing person report was filed on May 23, prompting an extensive investigation by the Amritsar Rural Police. Specialized teams from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Technical Cell, and local police units were deployed to trace Sharma's whereabouts.

Addressing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal stated that investigators meticulously analyzed CCTV footage, mobile phone records, digital evidence, and witness statements to piece together the events surrounding Sharma's disappearance.

The investigation eventually revealed evidence pointing toward a criminal conspiracy involving close family members and associates.

Property Worth Crores Allegedly at the Centre of the Crime

According to the police, the primary accused, Satish Sharma, allegedly conspired with his son Sunny Sharma and local property dealer Lakhwinder Singh to eliminate Sunil Sharma.

Investigators believe the victim, an Australian citizen with substantial property holdings in Punjab, was lured under the pretext of discussing a property transaction. Police allege that Sharma was administered sleeping pills before being attacked and fatally struck on the head.

Authorities further claim that the accused attempted to destroy evidence after the crime by concealing blood-stained bedding and other incriminating materials linked to the incident.

Forged Documents and Property Fraud Under Investigation

Preliminary findings suggest that the accused had allegedly prepared forged power of attorney documents with the intention of illegally transferring or selling properties belonging to Sunil Sharma and his sister.

Police officials estimate that the alleged property fraud could involve assets worth approximately ₹5–6 crore, making the case one of the more significant property-related criminal investigations in the region in recent months.

Investigators are now examining the extent of the forgery operation and identifying individuals who may have assisted in preparing fraudulent documentation.

Three Arrested, Search Continues for Additional Suspects

Amritsar Rural Police have arrested Satish Sharma, Sunny Sharma, and Lakhwinder Singh in connection with the case.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend two additional suspects who are believed to have played a role in the conspiracy and remain absconding.

Police teams are conducting raids at multiple locations as part of the ongoing investigation.

Search Underway for Victim's Body

Investigators suspect that Sunil Sharma's body may have been disposed of in the Harike region, a vast wetland area located in Punjab. Multiple police teams have been deployed to search the area and recover the victim's remains.

Officials believe that locating the body will provide crucial forensic evidence and help strengthen the prosecution's case.

SSP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal stated that the investigation remains active and will explore the involvement of any additional individuals connected to the alleged forgery, property fraud, and murder conspiracy.

Authorities are also reviewing financial transactions, property records, and legal documents associated with the disputed assets to determine the full scope of the alleged fraud.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the serious allegations involving family members and the substantial value of the properties at the center of the dispute.
