The Delhi government has approved the Delhi EV Policy 2026, introducing major incentives to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the national capital. One of the biggest highlights of the new policy is that electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom) will receive a 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees, making EV ownership significantly more affordable.

The policy, which comes into effect on July 1, 2026, aims to transform Delhi into a pollution-free city by March 31, 2030, while encouraging a large-scale shift from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric mobility.

Announcing the new policy, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government will invest nearly ₹15,000 crore over the next four years to strengthen electric mobility infrastructure and reduce vehicular pollution across the city.
