Jorhat, Assam: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has identified the five personnel who lost their lives in the tragic AN-32 aircraft accident at Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday. The Air Force paid tribute to the deceased, stating that they made the “supreme sacrifice in the line of duty” while serving the nation.
The victims have been identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
Indian Air Force Pays Tribute to Fallen Personnel
In an official statement released after the accident, the Indian Air Force expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its personnel and extended heartfelt condolences to their families.
“The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the AN-32 accident at Jorhat in Assam. Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” the statement said.
The Air Force also reaffirmed its support for the bereaved families during this difficult time.
“IAF extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and stands firmly with them in this hour of grief,” the statement added.
AN-32 Aircraft Accident at Jorhat Air Force Station
According to defence officials, the AN-32 transport aircraft was involved in an accident at approximately 10 a.m. during a routine sortie at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam.
Initial reports indicate that the aircraft met with an accident shortly after landing at the airbase. Following the incident, the aircraft caught fire, prompting immediate action by emergency response and rescue teams stationed at the base.
Firefighting units and technical personnel were rushed to the scene to contain the blaze and secure the crash site.
Investigation Underway Into Cause of Crash
The Indian Air Force confirmed that crash-site management operations were initiated immediately after the accident and that preliminary investigations are currently underway.
